Hello again out there. I finally had a chance to get caught up a little bit here. I just posted four weeks of pictures (Summer Weeks 5-8), so let me give you the rundown on those. Summer Week 5 was the week of June 25 – July 2 and we had a very large group here from the First Baptist Church in Meridian, Texas. There were 44 people in the group and we were 77 people in total that week with all the missionaries, summer staff & DMT students & staff. We split into two groups that week and did our VBS in the villages of Panales & Agua Nueva. We did our usual in home visitations & hospital ministry on Tuesday & Wednesday mornings. We had church services Tuesday evening in Panales & Wednesday evening in Doctor Arroyo. On Thursday we went up to the historic silver mining town of Real de Catorce for the day. You can see the picture set at DMT Summer, Week 5 Photos.

Summer Week 6 was the week of July 1 – 10. We had two groups here that week. The Evangelical Chinese Church (ECC) from Seattle, Washington arrived in Texas on Thursday while we were all still here working with the Texas group. We sent a couple of our DMT students (Esperanza & Allison) out on a bus to get them. On Friday they all came to Matehuala (about 30 miles west of Dr Arroyo) on a bus and our staff here picked them up. They did children’s services on Saturday & Sunday in the village of Los Altitos. Roger & I had four of the vans in Texas, so the Seattle team and our staff in Mexico got around in just the green van and Dani’s Dad’s pickup. On Saturday Roger left from Texas to go down to the Casa Dayspring (the orphanage) in El Higo, Veracruz. He picked up a group from Nappanee, Indiana at the airport in Tampico, Tamaulipas and they all spent the week down there working on the construction of the new orphanage facility. Meanwhile Eric & I came back to Arroyo on Sunday with another group from Sandusky, Ohio (The Chapel) plus three people from Latrobe, Pennsylvania. We were still a mob of people, 75 in total that week. We did our usual stuff and our VBS for the week was in the villages of La Laja & Aguilar. We went to Real de Catorce again on Thursday and then back out to Texas on Friday. You can see the picture set at DMT Summer, Week 6 Photos.

Summer Week 7 was the week of July 10 – 16 and we had two groups again. One from Grace Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas and the other from The Meeting Place Church in Blacksburg, South Carolina. Those groups weren’t so big, so we were able to stay together all week. We did our three days of VBS in the village of Pompeya. On Thursday we went back up the mountain to Real de Catorce again (that’s 5 times this summer, so far). On Friday we headed for Texas, as usual. You can see the picture set at DMT Summer, Week 7 Photos.

Summer Week 8 was the week of July 16 – 24. We had no group that week, so we got caught up on our cleaning & stuff. We did three days of kids’ services right here in the church on the property in Doctor Arroyo. You can see the picture set at DMT Summer, Week 8 Photos. Our DMT program is coming to an end soon. As I write this we are in the late part of week 10. Week 11 is the final week. Friday I will take all the staff, students & summer staff back down to the orphanage in Veracruz. Roger will be driving down there the same day with the final mission team for this summer. They are from Niles, Michigan and they wanted to see what a tropical mission trip would be like, since they’ve been down on trips to Doctor Arroyo a few times. Next Friday (August 12) Roger will take the Michigan team out to Texas along with all our American students and they will be heading for home. I will stay in the tropics and take our Mexican staff & students home. Many of them live in Oaxaca, so I will be heading down there again. I’m not sure what kind of internet I will have next week, but we will try to post something on the Dayspring Facebook pages a few times throughout the week. Eventually I’ll get the last three weeks of pictures up here. Anyway, I gotta run. Thanks for following us here and we’ll see you soon.

Dios les Bendiga
Dennis
